Frequently Asked Questions
From enrollment to certification, most doulas complete the process in 2-4 weeks. Training programs typically run 4-5 days of intensive instruction, followed by the certification exam.
No prior doula experience is required. ADA-approved training programs are designed to take you from beginner to exam-ready. However, a genuine passion for supporting new families is essential.
ADA offers training and exams in English, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, and Korean. You can complete the entire certification process in your preferred language.
The exam fee is $625. Training program fees vary by provider — contact your chosen program for pricing. Some scholarship funding may be available.
You'll receive your ADA certification (valid for 3 years), a unique exam ID, and immediate listing in our verified doula registry. Insurance providers can verify your certification through our system.
